This is a 5k and 10k race sponsored by Independence Bank to be held on July 4, 2024. Registration for the event will be online and on the morning of the event at Independence Bank (3143 Broadway). Pre and post-race activities will also be held in the bank parking lot.
All participants will receive great patriotic race gear, and fun awards will be given out for overall and age group winners at each distance. There will be door prizes available to family members and supporters! All collected donations and a portion of race proceeds will go to the Wounded Warrior Project.
Road Closures: On July 4 from 6:30 until 10 a.m., the following roads will be closed to traffic.
- Jefferson Street from the East side of 32nd Street to 5th Street.
- Monroe Ave from 5th Street to 12th Street. Fountain Ave from Madison Street to Jefferson Street.
- 16th Street from Madison Street to Jefferson Street.
- Labelle Ave up to Buckner/Broadway between the bank parking lot and the Coke Plant.
Location – Course Details
Both 5k and 10k races will begin at 8 a.m. Participants will gather in the Independence Bank parking lot on Buckner and Labelle Ave (Midtown Paducah, across from the Coke Plant) and head down Jefferson towards the flood wall. The 5k race will turn around close to Fountain Avenue, and the 10k will continue until the turnaround point (see course maps for details).
5K Route: 5K runners will split off and turn left on 16th Street, run 2 blocks, and turn left on Madison, heading West towards the Fountain Avenue circle. From there, runners will take the Southeast curve of the Fountain Avenue Circle, turning left onto Fountain Avenue and heading back towards Jefferson. Then, they will turn right onto the westbound lane of Jefferson Street and return to Labelle Avenue. Finally, turn left onto Labelle Avenue, where the finish line will be staged.
10K Route: Essentially, the 10k route is a “down-back” course. Once the 5k runners split and turn onto 16th Street, the 10k runners will continue down Jefferson until they reach 5th Street, where they will turn left, proceed one block, and turn left onto Monroe Street.
From there, the runners will travel Westbound on Monroe until they reach 12th Street, then turn around and return the way they came until they reach the finish on Labelle Avenue. This route will merge back into the 5k returning route at Fountain and Jefferson.
