Martin Luther King Jr. City Services Holiday Schedule

The Martin Luther King Jr. holiday affects City of Paducah services. 

  • City Hall located at 300 South 5th Street and other city offices will be closed Monday, January 20.
  • The Public Works Department will not collect curbside recycling on Monday. Those who have their recycling containers collected on the third Monday of the month will have collection on Tuesday, January 21. 
  • The garbage collection schedule for the week of January 21-24 will not change. 

 

 

Events Organized by the Paducah/McCracken County NAACP

The annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. March to the Monument and Luncheon organized by the Paducah/McCracken County Chapter of the NAACP will be Monday, January 20. For the March to the Monument, attendees should meet at the Robert Cherry Civic Center (2701 Park Avenue) at 9:30 a.m. Participants will walk in the median to the monument which is located on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive near North 19th Street. Local leaders will place a memorial wreath at the monument and hold a brief ceremony. There will be a police escort.

Following the march is a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. at Paducah Tilghman High School (2400 Washington Street). Carol Moseley Braun is the keynote speaker. Braun made history in 1992 as the first African American woman elected to the U.S. Senate.
