Residential Solid Waste Collection Temporarily Moved Streetside for Alley Customers

Date of Release:
February 03, 2026

The Paducah Public Works Department asks residents who normally receive garbage collection in alleys to place their rollouts streetside for this week and next week. Due to poor alley conditions following the recent winter weather event, garbage trucks are unable to safely service alley collection routes.

Weather Event Summary: According to the National Weather Service, Paducah received 8.2 inches of snow and sleet during the January 24–25 storm, making it the eighth snowiest January on record. The prolonged period of unusually cold temperatures over the past week have prevented the snow from melting. Paducah recorded eight consecutive days with a snow depth of at least five inches, tying the second-longest streak on record.
